... Where is
the largest ball of twine??
Winamucca
Nevada to Park City, Utah.
08:53pm PST
Found some
more pics
from last night,.. .
Got up this
morning early and set out, trying to hit the Salt Flats before
it gets too cranking hot.
Today's Pics:
This
thing is FOUR INCHES LONG. It's eating one of it's compadres.
It's one of several billion of them. The highway this morning
was BLACK with these things. The women folk were freaked.

More
ghoulish insect cannibalism.

Here
you see Deborah embarrassing the 12 year old Kaya Lindsay at the
border between Nevada and Utah.

Spence
and Kenna filming Deb in an insert for Deb's Thesis project in
the middle of the Great Salt Flats.

Kenna
holds the reflector above the massive reflector that is the Salt
Flats.

Found
a really weird old, almost abandoned turn of the (20th) century
palace called "The Great Saltair". The restored stairway
was impressive, but the rest of it looked like a crack house.
Very strange. You had to almost step over rebar and old heaps
of plaster to get to the gift shop.

We
made our way down to the shores of the salt lake, which was strewn
with dead and bloating sea birds and hosted many billions of flys
that swarmed at ankle level.

The
kids made a cool game of stirring them up and chasing a giant
wave of them up and down the stinky beach... just don't fall on
your face...

I
know I'm obsessing,... but there were freaking BILLIONS of these
things...

Kaya
making a wave of bugs...

Deb
took this shot and judging by the focus, I think maybe it's time
for some "alone time" with Deb, hmmmm?

Left
the great stinking salt lake and found Park City Utah in the mountains,...
very cool place. Kenna and I await the fireworks.

Dad's
looking a little manic tonight,... no smokes for a few weeks now...

My
first fireworks photographs. This is the only one out
of about 200 that wasn't blurry... gah.
