July 26th and 27th, 2005

Hope, BC. to Portland Oregon to,... home.

Left Hope, BC in the morning and drove for a few hours down to our friend Sonora's house in Langley, BC. Stopped in for some yummy hash browns and snacks and then headed off to the Border. To be honest, I was a little concerned about the US border crossing. Ever since my experience with the Department of Homeland Security, I've been a bit skittish about the US customs people. Not to worry, after being scanned by these big scanning tower things, we got through with all our rectums un-searched. Jammed through Seattle, which was sort of ugly and into Portland, which, if I was going to move north, would be my destination. Really a beautiful place with a bazillion trees and very hilly. Way cool. We hooked up with friends Nancy, Tommy, and Amanda and stayed the night at Nancy's cousin's house.

Left Portland this morning and just realized that we've travelled over seven thousand miles since the 3rd of July. Kenna just underscored this by screaming "I just want to be home and not in the car with the rest of you!!"

We're in Southern Oregon now on i5 now,.. hoping to make Pacific Grove by tonight. Betty, our GPS routing system, says we can make it by 8:30 tonight!

So there you have it. We're almost home and feel like it was a great trip. Time to get back to life.

Update the next day: We made it from Portland to Monterey in 15 hours. Straight drive. The dogs were out of their minds and we're all really stoked to be back in PG.

8,000 miles total in 25 days,... thanks so much for watching!

The Pics:

The American Border,... wheeee..

Trippy Scanning Towers at the border crossing,.. from what I've read, these things can look inside your car while you sit there,.. wondering how many RADs we got,...

Fires in Southern Oregon.

Deb is still ready for more adventure!

The girls, however, are not.

This is "Betty", our GPS, who has made this trip soooo much easier. I highly recomend a GPS with routing capabilities for a trip like this.

Geek-Boy and Adventure Woman!

Mighty Mount Shasta makes an appearance...

Deb spins the tunes and watches our progress during sunset on our last night...

11:30pm I make a stop for a triple shot at our corporate coffee station...

1:00am,... we're home and the dogs seem somewhat stoked...

Tonights sunset on the monterey bay,.. really great to be back.

And now back to your regular programming,...
